When a loved one requires more support, it can quickly become overwhelming. Numerous questions arise. Do they need someone to come to the house? Do you need someone to talk to? Is there a program that could help them stay connected and engaged rather than isolated? Often, the answer involves more than one kind of support and understanding the difference can make all the difference.

Patricia King has been working with older adults and their families in the Sea to Sky Corridor for over two decades. Through that work, two distinct but deeply connected services have emerged: For the One You Love, which provides direct home care and companion services for your loved one, and Present Moment Consulting, which supports you, the family caregiver, through the emotional and practical weight of that role.

For many families, both are needed.

For the One You Love: Care That Comes to Them

For the One You Love (FTOYL) is a home care and companion services agency serving the Sea to Sky Corridor since 1999. The focus is on your loved one, the person struggling with dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, or any other age related conditions that can make daily life more challenging.

FTOYL provides hands-on, in-person support including daily home care, personal care, shopping and appointments, post-operative care, and meaningful engagement through the 3 Dimension Club. This strengths-based group activity program is designed to keep older adults physically active, mentally engaged, and socially connected, but more importantly, provides caregivers with a few hours of respite every week.

For families, FTOYL also offers consultation and advocacy services, helping you navigate the healthcare system, understand your options, and make informed decisions at every stage of the caregiving journey, including end-of-life doula care.

This is the tangible care, the care you can see and touch. Someone showing up at the door. A program your loved one looks forward to each week. A dedicated team that knows their name and their story.

Present Moment Consulting: Support for the Person Doing the Caring

What often goes unspoken is how much caregiving takes from the people doing it. The worry. The sleepless nights. The grief of watching someone change. The isolation of a role that few people outside of it truly understand.

Present Moment Consulting (PMC) was created for that person.

Through private and group consulting, Patricia works with family caregivers to manage stress, prevent burnout, and rediscover a sense of self that caregiving can quietly erode. The approach is holistic, drawing on mindfulness, energy work, nutrition, and compassionate conversation and most of all, it is deeply practical. You leave with strategies, not just support.

PMC is not home care. There is no one coming to your house to help with tasks. Instead, it is a space where you are the focus, your wellbeing, your needs, your limits, and your capacity to keep going.

Why Both Matter and How They Work Together

The caregiving experience has two sides that are rarely supported at the same time. Your loved one needs physical care, engagement, and connection. You need guidance, rest, and someone on your side.

When both needs are met, something shifts. Families feel less overwhelmed. Loved ones receive better care. The relationship, which caregiving can strain beyond recognition, has a chance to breathe. Patricia King understands both sides because she has lived them, professionally and personally, for more than twenty years. Whether your family is just beginning to navigate what care looks like, or you are deep in the middle of it, there is a place to start.

Not Sure Which One You Need?

That’s okay, most people aren’t. Here’s a simple way to think about it: If your loved one needs in-person support, engagement, or care  For the One You Love is your starting point. If you are struggling with the weight of caregiving and need support for yourself  Present Moment Consulting is here for you. And if the answer is both that’s okay too. You don’t have to figure it out alone.
